Crew Godley Daily Blog 08.10.20

What a wet and wonderful day we’ve had! The children have had a splashing good time outside! It was lovely to go on a ‘Bear Hunt’ and some of the children made up their own story! This was a fantastic opportunity to develop our communication and collaborative skills. We couldn’t go round the muddy puddles, we had to go through them!

It was lovely to see children at the writing area today applying the skills we have been developing this week, pencil grip and fine motor skills when mark making. SJ was drawing Mario in his house and Declan drew a fab picture of himself thinking carefully about the shapes he needed.

HoWL Heroes today were:

Working Hard: Dylan, for settling back into Crew today and setting a perfect example of what working hard looks like during Crew sessions.

The same went for Charlie, Charlie is a role model in F2 and always shows us he is getting smart by working hard. He helped his peers order numbers to 20 today during quick math’s. Well done Charlie.

Today started as a very wet rainy one ☔️ However in foundation this means wellies and coats on and enjoying some much needed time outside after our learning time.

Highlights from today:

In provision, I noticed the children using the maths resources in the sand to match objects to the numicon. There are lots of opportunities for children to learn through play in provision and explore, it was great to see them initiate their own learning.

During phonics we listened to environmental sounds today and had to find the right picture to match the sound. The children are really getting good at listening carefully 👂🏼🌟

See you all tomorrow for Mental Health day, we have lots of fun activities planned 💛💛💛

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 08.10.20

Wow! What an interesting day it has been in school today! ⭐

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today I praise the excellent open ended and thoughtful questions ❓ that the children asked our ex-miner ⛏ visitor today. The children were well spoken and listened attentively throughout the session. We all learnt lots and this experience and the information gathered is going to be extremely beneficial as we move forward with our expedition learning.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

This is a little improvement from yesterday which is very pleasing to see! 😊 Most of our crew have been getting on with each other much better at break times. I wonder if we can improve this tomorrow?

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that we are ALL ‘being kind’ at all times especially at lunch times as this seems to be where most problems are arising occurring. Remember our rules for ‘playing kindly’ at crew times. 💕

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Crew Elmer nominated Rowen for being our ‘smart’ ‘HoWL Hero! I praised Rowen for his fantastic attitude all day today! 🤩 He has listened to everything that I have said all day, met ‘Gold’ standard in all lessons and produced some fabulous work especially in ‘The Write Stuff’! Fantastic work Rowen! 👍 Keep this up little man, we are all so proud of you! 👏🙌⭐😁 Oh and how could I forget he was also an absolute ‘superstar’ ⭐ (according to Ray!) during our question and answer time with our key speaker and he even got to wear the miners helmet! ⛑ Look at that beaming smile! 😁 I tell you what Rowen…it is moments like this that really make my day and this is why I love coming to school to teach you all! 😊 More moments like this please Crew Elmer! 👍

Crew Boswell – 08.10.20

Easily our star moment was how much we enjoyed speaking to a miner and learning a little more about mining and its impact on the community.  We have so much to be proud about for those that worked at Bullcroft and Brodsworth.  Did you know that the pit bottom at Bullcroft colliery was over 600m underground?

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.7

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.1

I wonder if…

I wonder if we all remember to wear something yellow tomorrow!  After a good day, I wonder if we can challenge ourselves to improve our Be Kind scores.

Today’s HoWL Heroes:

Our Be Kind heroes today are Ethan and Nate!

Two today.  It was impossible to separate them.  Both are our Be Kind heroes today because after having a challenging morning in their own way, they worked together to ensure that they had an amazing afternoon and this started with both offering their turns in a game after lunch to others who had missed out.  We’re all proud of you, well done!

Crew Gerrard (08/10/2020)

Hi everyone!

We have had the best day of the week so far in Crew Gerrard, which meant that it was difficult to choose our HoWL heroes for today. They were:

Work hard: Zane 🦸‍♂️

Get smart: Riley 🦸‍♂️

Being kind: Lucas 🦸‍♂️

Today’s HoWL average was 3.2, so let’s see if it can be even higher tomorrow!

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 08/10/2020

We have had a thrilling Thursday in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the day:

Theme: We made bird feeders as part of our “Be Kind” project. This involved bird seed, lard and toilet roll tubes – not an ideal combination for a clean classroom but the children absolutely loved it – apologies for any lard stained clothing! The children can’t wait to get their bird feeders home, make sure you send us a picture of them hanging it up via Class Dojo! See if your child can remember why it was important and kind to make bird feeders for our community?

Howl Heroes

Work Hard: Miami – for persevering with her writing today, well done!

Get Smart: Dalton – Dalton also went above and beyond in writing today, great stuff!

Be Kind – Keira-Leigh – for brilliantly collaborating with her crew across all the lessons today, well done!

Howl Average:

We are back up to a more respectable 3.3. The Crew are now self-reflecting really well and know what their target is for tomorrow if they didn’t reach the fantastic fours. Our whole Crew target for tomorrow is 3.5, which means we will get a spin on the reward wheel as our score will have improved, fingers crossed!
