Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 17/11/2020

We have had a brilliant day full of learning in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the day:

Today we have been very reflective about our writing, we looked at our previous work and decided how we were going to make it better. Following this, the whole classes handwriting improved for our new sentence in the Write Stuff and we were so proud of how beautiful our work was, fantastic work!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: Jake for his massive improvement with his handwriting and presentation, well done!

Get Smart: Daisy for listening carefully when she read back her sentence and correcting it when it didn’t make sense, great job!

Be Kind: Tia for being a brilliant assistant crew leader and keeping the tables and cloakroom at green standard, well done!

Howl Average:

We stay steady at a 3.3, but with our new handwriting pledges I think those scores will soon shoot up to 4’s for consistently working hard!

Evening everyone!

Highlight of the day

We had another great dance lesson in PE today. We are coming on loads and are learning some great skills.

Our big focus for the rest of the week needs to be sitting calmly during learning. We have had the wiggles so far this week. This means that we can’t listen carefully which makes it harder to get smart.

HOWLs

Despite this we have a seen a big improvement in our HOWL score today, 3.2!

This is because attendance is up and our be kind scores are something for us to be proud of!

Today our HOWL heroes are…

🌟 Work hard – James

🌟 Get smart – Charleigh

🌟 Be kind – Catalina

Crew Boswell – 17.11.20

Another good day for us today has made this the best start to the week that we’ve had since we started in September.  Can we push on to make it the best week?  We’re continuing to develop our resilience and maths today was a test of that.  Things won’t always be easy and we’re learning that the challenges we face in our learning are what help us to progress and develop; they’re what we need to relish!

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.3

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.1

I wonder if…

Now that we are becoming more familiar with the writing rainbow, I wonder if we can start to push ourselves to use it more independently to write more in our morning session.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our HoWL hero today is Max!

It’s been a great day for Max today who has pushed himself to green standard in his writing and has definitely shown us all how to get smart!  If this wasn’t enough, his kindness has shone through with helping others in the crew when they’ve needed it and has even spoken out to support those with less confidence.

Well, it’s safe to say today has been a busy day 😴 This week is World Nursery Rhyme Week and today we celebrated this focusing on one of our favourites ‘5 Little Speckled Frogs’. The children independently accessed the resources set up to sing the song, practising their counting and I also noticed some excellent group work as they took it in turns with the frogs 🐸 I wonder what rhyme we will be focusing on tomorrow 🤔…

We continued reading our class text ‘The Gruffalo’ and we then practised our mark making skills drawing the Gruffalo. The children did fantastic drawing using shapes and even drawing the purple prickles on his back! Amazing work 🌟

This week our colour of the week is Red and we have made collages using red materials. Well done to those children who have demonstrated their understanding of learning the colour by bringing in something red from home. We are also progressing in our creative skills by being able to glue and stick independently now 🙌🏼

HOWL Hero

Working Hard – Porsha

I observed Porsha playing in the speckled frogs tray today, doing some lovely singing and counting. Porsha can sometimes be shy, it was lovely to see that although she can be quiet in large group work, she is still learning and this shone through today. Well done Porsha 🤩🌟

I would just like to thank adults for supporting your child with their homework. I understand there are mixed opinions about homework, however the tasks set are really simple and to support the child in their development. It is great to see the children so proud of their work too ❤️

Crew Marsh: 17/11/20

Terrific Tuesday! 😁✔

My star moment today was watching the children be creative in PE lessons and creating their own dance routine. It was great to see how much the crew was into it and all of the fab ideas they had.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.1 😊

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.7!

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow, again Crew Marsh need to make sure they are listening straight away.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Smart hero today is Max!

Max has had a really good today, he worked extra hard in our writing lesson today and got smarter quicker. Well done Max, Crew Marsh and I have noticed how hard you worked today. 👏😁

Grew Godley Daily Post 17.11.20

Good afternoon everyone,

The children in Crew today were introduced to the class Egg.🥚 We discussed where it had come from and what made our Egg different to any other eggs we might find in the supermarket. Our Egg is “magical”. 🧚‍♀️🧙‍♂️

With its lovely golden colour and glitter nest, the children are very intrigued to see what will hatch 🤔🤷‍♀️ We had some very interesting ideas. Some children thought we might get a chicken while others thought it might even be a baby dinosaur. 🦖 We will have to wait and see.

They discussed how we could care for the egg as a crew and how we could make it comfortable enough to hatch. We were all really kind and throughout the day the children kept an eye on the Egg to ensure it was warm enough and keeping safe. 🥰

The children then used their phonic knowledge to draw pictures and write labels to say what they thought were inside. Brilliant fred talk everyone! 🐸

Our HOWL heroes today were:

George for getting smart and using his amazing fred talk to write all about the chicken what he thinks will hatch from inside the golden egg.

Kyla for being kind and showing care and concern for younger children in the classroom. You are a great role model Kyla, keep up the lovely work.

Crew Shields – 17/11/20

Today in Crew Shields, we have enjoyed creating a poster that represents the services of the Salvation Army. We have learned that they work all over the world, support the elderly, they provide food and beds for the homeless, they upskill people so they can get jobs and ensure people have a better future. William Booth was the founder because he wanted to show God’s love by helping others.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.3

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

To improve further, Crew Shields need to remember to put up their hands when they have something to share.

Our Work Hard hero today is Kaylum!

Kaylum has had a really positive attitude to his learning today. This has really shown in his writing and when we were creating our poster. Well done.

Crew Gerrard (17/11/20)

Hi everyone,

Today was a mixed day at times, however I know that we will improve more tomorrow. We need to make sure that we do this consistently. It was difficult to choose the HoWL heroes for today and they are:

Working hard: Tyler 🦸‍♂️

Get smart: Sapphire 🦸‍♂️

Being kind: Emily 🦸‍♂️

Our HoWL average was 2.9!

I need to see improvements tomorrow, which I know will happen! 😆

Crew Kent Blog 17.11.20

Today, we could’ve given anyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: Sophia 👩

Get smart: Grace 👩

Be kind: Kelby 👩

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 2.8! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Well done Crew Kent 👍
