Bananas for Baking!

This week in Crew Nursery we have been talking about healthy and unhealthy foods, we started the week baking some tasty treats – chocolate crispy cakes and buns with icing and sprinkles!

Today we talked about some healthy ingredients we could use to bake, the children chose to use banana and raisins, so we made banana, raisin bread!

The children worked hard to measure, mix and mash the ingredients and were so excited to see the finished result. I hope it tasted as yummy as it looked!

Our HOWL average has shot up this week – our average was 2.8 🤩 … we’re getting closer and closer to a secure 3!

During The Write Stuff sessions 🖊, we’ve worked hard on using models of excellence around our room to help us get smarter 📕📝.

We’ve been using our text ‘Train to Impossible Places’ to magpie sentence structures in our writing… This is going above and beyond to get smart🌟!

We’re loving Scotty’s Heroes… pushing us to achieve our limits 🥵💪🏼!

This is helping us build stronger crew relationships❤️!

During expedition, we’ve been researching the history of the Doncaster Plant, using our historian researching skills…

Next week, we are aiming for a SECURE 3 HOWL average to end Autumn Term 1 on… 🤩. We are really trying harder with our concentration and are aiming to reach gold standard all day.

Happy Friday everyone, enjoy the ☀️ while it lasts!

Crew SB – 8/10/21

World Mental Health Day – today we have discussed the strategies we have for keeping our mind healthy. It was lovely to hear the children share the ways they relax such as playing games, colouring, exercise, listen to music or reading were some of the suggestions. To emphasis the importance of mindfulness, the children took part in a yoga session. It was lovely to see all the children joining in.

I has has been an extremely busy week in writing where the children have moved towards writing the whole plot point rather than just a chunk. The children have met this challenge and exceeded it in some cases. I have been blown away by the amount they have been writing and the quality they are starting to produce.

Next week will be the last week of this half term. The children have had an extremely busy half term and have accomplished so much. Only 1 week left and I know that some of the children are ready for the break. Have a lovely weekend.

Crew MI 8.10.21

We have worked hard to get smart this week across all our lessons. In expedition lessons, we have researched the Doncaster Plant works and created a flap book exploring the history behind it. The children have certainly enjoyed making these.

Our Harry Potter writing is really coming on to. We have been focussing this week on our sentence starters, relative clauses and subordinating conjunctions. We are really proud of our vocabulary so enjoy reading these examples…

As a crew we have been focussing on being kind and overall this has improved this week and we have lots of children being kind and praising others which has been lovely to see. We need to keep this up now. Next week we are going to continue to work on our listening skills and working together as a crew. Have a lovely weekend!

What a busy week! Every week seems to fly by this half term and now we only have one week left.

I have been so impressed with seeing the children commit themselves to their independent writing, it has been great to see their ideas and how they have used everything we have taught over the last few weeks. Some of the pieces have really blown our socks off and made us smile from ear to ear.

We all love our Wednesday mornings in our guitar lessons and we can’t wait to hear them put a full song together!

It has been great to see how much the children have flourished in their math lessons, all crew members work hard to make sure they are answering as many questions as they possibly can and everyone is making sure their work is looking beautiful on a daily basis!

Have a great weekend all! 😁😁

One more week to go…
