Crew White kicked off our new writing unit with an exciting survival challenge!
After imagining that we had become stranded on a remote island, we had to work together to make some difficult decisions. With only five items to help us survive, we had to think carefully about what we would need and justify our choices.
But surviving wasn’t going to be easy! We faced a series of unexpected challenges, including finding fresh water, protecting ourselves from a dangerous storm and working out how to signal for rescue. Just when we thought help might be on its way, another setback tested our determination!
Throughout the day, we developed our teamwork, communication, problem-solving and resilience, while considering how people might think, feel and react in a survival situation.
This experience will provide inspiration for our new survival narratives, helping us bring our characters’ actions, emotions and challenges to life.
