Highlight of the day 📚

The children have really impressed today in their reading assessments. Every single Crew member tried their very hardest and had such a positive attitude towards the task and using it to improve their skills 😃

Tiring Thursday 💤 We are all feeling the tiredness of the first week back! Is it Friday yet?!

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Yet again today I have been in and out of the classroom and haven’t got to be in Crew Elmer much! As Harley says ‘I am a very busy lady!’  😂 However, I was really impressed with the children’s times table knowledge in maths today. This is something that we are really focusing on in Year 4 and already I can see an improvement! 🙌 The children were great at chanting the times tables, doing the hey macarena, and more importantly improving their MTC scores! 👏 Remember Crew Elmer this is something that you can practice at home using the following link: https://www.timestables.co.uk/ If you are struggling to login then just get your grown up to send me a Dojo message or I can speak to them before or after school. This seems to be going down ever so slightly this week and I feel that this is due to some of us being tired and getting easily annoyed with others resulting in us being unkind to each other. Please make sure you are getting lots of sleep and rest over the weekend so that you feel refreshed for Monday!

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that they are all ‘being kind’ to each other at all times. 💕 This includes thinking about what they are going to say before they say it, as well as their actions.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Goodness me! The praises were flowing in Crew Time this afternoon! However, Miss Clarke and I firmly agreed that Kacey-Leigh was worthy of the ‘Working Hard’ HoWL Hero because like it says she has ‘worked hard’ all day today. Her writing in TWS was amazing and was all completed independently. Also in expedition she completed a full page of writing to answer our current expedition question on ‘why we should be proud of Carcroft Community.’ Reading what Kacey-Leigh wrote really made me proud to work and teach in Carcroft! 😊 In addition to this, Kacey-Leigh also worked her socks off last night and wrote some great additional writing to support TWS work that we have been doing in class. Well done Kacey-Leigh! 👏🙌👍🤩⭐✏📝

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Work Hard hero today is Ryan!

A unanimous choice from all the crew for Ryan today, here’s just some of what they said.

“He’s answered all the questions he’s been asked.”

“He has had a good day and he’s worked so hard.”

And the best part?  Ryan is pleased with his day!  “I think that I’ve worked hard today, especially to make my handwriting neater in English and maths.”

In these times of uncertainty, it is often difficult to see when we have done something well so we will all be working hard to support each other in recognising our efforts to improve, or succeed or simply not to be deterred by adversity.

Today we celebrated bonfire night 💥💥 the children showcased their mark making skills by drawing their own fireworks whilst we listened to some explosive music 🎶 This inspired us to write some words to describe the noises we could hear👂

The children enjoyed practising their letter formation today, it’s great to see so many children so eager to write 🤩

The children developed their balancing skills out in Forest School 🌳 today. It’s was tricker than it looked!

Crew Mcloughlin have blown me away today! I really think they are understanding and grasping the concept of the beginning of our journey to Get Smart. You have all worked so hard today and tried your best and that is all I can ask! I am proud of you all! 🤗🤩
