Crew Elmer Daily Blog 14.12.20

Magic Monday! Today has been a very magical day in Crew Elmer – writing Christmas letters, seeing what our naughty elf has been up to over the weekend and evaluating our Christmas stained class windows ready for making tomorrow!

Star moment of the day:

This has got to be our ‘Expedition’ lesson this afternoon. The children self-assessed their stained glass windows designs and were very reflective and honest. However, what impressed me the most was how kind and honest the children were when conducting the ‘peer assessment’ element. It would of been easy for our crew to give their friends 10’s (being the best) but they were very honest with their scores and could also explain their reasoning. This was great to see! Well done Crew Elmer! 🤩🙌👍👏⭐✏📝

Todays HoWL average is: 3.4

WOW! A great score to start our Christmas week off! The children have proved today that despite Christmas just being around the corner they are still focused on their learning and are wanted to get super smart!

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.3

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Continue to follow our HoWLs at all times of day!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Laila! 😁 Laila was chosen for ‘working hard’ all day and as a result she has produced some beautiful work. Laila has just got on with her work today, not been distracted by others and managed to achieve Green standard! Amazing work Laila! Well done! ✏📝⭐👏👍🙌🤩

Crew Boswell – 11.12.20

Wow!  I was so tired last night that when I got in, I curled up on the sofa with my teddy and fell fast asleep.

Let me tell you about the best day of my life…yet.  I had my first day at school!!

It started the same as any other Friday, my hooman needed waking up so I gave him the usual licks.  He took me for an extra-long walk, which I thought was strange but I wasn’t complaining!  Especially because I had a large breakfast afterwards.  When he went to leave, he let me go with him.  Very strange.

We got to a place that I’d never been before and went inside.  It was really big.  There were plenty of smells to explore and I was very excited even if I didn’t know where I was going.  When we got inside, I had to explore.  I ran the length of the corridors to check that I knew what was around until my hooman told me to stop.  I knew he couldn’t catch me but he cheated and used the safety rope that I usually use to make sure he keeps up with me.

We went upstairs where my hooman had set up my den and I was excited that it looked like I was going to spend the day with him!

You’ll never guess what happened next!  So many little hoomans came in and I was let out to say hello to them all.  I picked up my trusty teddy (he’s called Midas) because I sometimes feel nervous when meeting new people and went to say hello.  I didn’t need to worry though as everyone gave me lots of strokes and made me feel very welcomed.

It got better.  The little hoomans then sat on the floor in a circle and I could walk around them all and say hello properly.  I may have hit a few with my tail it was wagging that much but I don’t think I hurt any of them.  They were talking about me and I could tell they wanted to get to know me better.

The little hoomans then went to sit at their tables and left me in the middle of the room.  I got excited when I saw them all playing with their own sticks, even though they were smaller than I’d usually choose.  Even my hooman started giving treats out to everyone except me.  I followed him and he finally offered me a treat but it was just paper.  Little hoomans are strange for wanting paper as treats!

It wasn’t long before we went outside and I loved this part of the day!  All the hoomans started running around the playground and even threw my squirrel toy for me!  Thank you!  I felt like I was part of the crew with everyone wanting to play with me!  I even slipped on the muddy field though and ended up a little dirty.  I was scared that I would be in trouble or that the little hoomans would make fun of me but nobody seemed to mind and they even helped get the mud off me!  I loved chasing everyone as they ran around.  We must have run for miles and miles!

When it was time to go back inside, one of the little hoomans walked me back to my den and they started playing withh those sticks again.  I was very sleepy by this point so I went for a cheeky nap and hoped that nobody noticed!  I was woken by a lot of loud noise and I scared for my little hoomans, my new crew.  I jumped out of my den and started barking at the noise but I think I scared some of the little hoomans.  It was very confusing and I’m sorry.  I realised that they were all safe and went back to my den.

Soon they all left me though and it was just me and my hooman.  It was an amazing day and I loved meeting my new friends and I want to thank them and the other crews that I met for being kind and gentle with me and welcoming me to their territory.  I won’t forget this day.

What I didn’t know though was that wasn’t the last I’d see of everyone!  They all came back and we watched a movie together in the hall!  I was a little grumpy when my hooman kept me in my den while everyone ate some delicious-smelling pizza but he soon let me out.  None of my new friends had saved me any though.  I walked around them all inspecting their teddies and seeing if I could borrow one nobody seemed willing to let me.  When the film finished, they all went home and I was left with my hooman.  He had to carry me out of the car when we got back because I was that tired and that’s why I’ve had to tell you all about my day today instead.  I hope that’s ok?

I’m hoping my hooman takes me in another time but perhaps you could ask him if I could, please?

Hopefully see you all again soon and you can show me more of how you work hard, get smart and be kind.

Woof woof! 🐾

Today’s HoWL Hero:

The little hooman Be Kind HoWL hero today is Max!

It was hard to choose one but Max instantly made me feel safe and was always there to make sure I had a friend.  He didn’t even mind when I gave him a few licks!  I think I’ve found a new friend and that makes me happy.

This Week in Phase:

Be sure to watch the video to see what they have been up to as a phase.  I think I might have even made it onto the video!
