We’ve had such an exciting day today! The alien wrote us a letter ❤ he is so scared and worried and has asked for our help. The children were so excited to receive the letter and set off to work straight away.

“Mrs Godley’s Crew

Please help me! Something terrible has happened! I went to visit my family on planet Venus for Christmas, but when I was travelling back to my own home on planet Mars, my Spaceship was hit by a giant rock flying through space!  My spaceship was badly damaged! It lost power and it fell quickly to planet Earth. I was so scared! My spaceship hit the ground and broke into lots of small pieces. Luckily my spacesuit protected my tiny body and I am still alive but my spaceship is broken and I don’t think that it can be fixed! I am lost and I feel very scared and worried. I have never been to your planet before. Everyone that I have seen looks strange – they don’t look like me at all!  I need your help. How can you help me? I need to get back to my family on plant Mars but I don’t know how to get there. I need you to help me to hide and to stay safe while I am resting on planet Earth. My arm is broken and it needs time to heal before I can travel back to Mars safely.

Thank you ,

Zig Zog,

Your new friend  from planet Mars”

This led us to explore the planet Venus – what did the planet look like where the alien was traveling from? We used pastels to create our own planets to share with the alien to make him feel welcome and show him that we want to help him get home to Mars. This sparked discussion about the alien and it’s appearance and what he might need to survive on such a hot planet! We wrote a letter back to the alien to gather more information. We then used our fine motor skills to sculpt what we thought the alien may look like, we know he is tiny!

Our crew today really has shown we are crew by their kind and thoughtful discussions around supporting the alien. Shania even offered to take the alien to the doctors to ensure his arm could be fixed ❤

Today’s HoWL heroes are:

Working Hard – Dylan. Dylna worked hard today with his art skills and carefully selected colours to represent the planet Venus.

Getting Smart – Lilly and Reggie. Both Lilly and Reggie worked hard today in quick maths to recognise and form numbers correctly. Reggie absolutely blew me away with how much he has been practising at home, keep up the great work!
