NSPCC Number Day at school

Dear Parents and Carers

Next week is maths week at Carcroft (4th – 7th May).  We will be celebrating maths and to do this we will be doing the following:

  • Each day you will be informed of a challenge you can complete at home and bring into school or send to your crew leader on Class Dojo.
  • Each day there will be a FUN maths challenge on the blog for you to complete as a family at home
  • Friday is NSPCC Maths day so we will be having a ‘maths’ dress up day or Non-Uniform Day with numbers (£1 donation)

Please see the school blog for links to the NSPCC maths day website, ideas for dress up and daily posts next week.

Crew Marsh: Crew time

In Crew Marsh today we had a lovely extended crew in the morning, this was a great chance to get to know each other better by playing two truths and a lie. It was great to spend time with the children and building our crew.

Activity 1: Ball challenge

The first challenge in our smaller crews was to get our plastic ball from one side of the classroom to the other in the quickest time with out touching it – this meant we all resorted into using our lungs!

Activity 2: Marshmallow and spaghetti challenge

Our second challenge was to create the tallest statue we could using only marshmallows and spaghetti, this was really tricky as the spaghetti kept breaking.

Star moment

Star moment today was seeing the children in our science experiment this afternoon, in smaller crews the children acted out the digestive system – it was messy and a lot of fun! I think everyone’s favourite part was when our digestive system was ready for pooing. 💩💩

Average is: 2.9!

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh’s target for tomorrow is making sure that we have a positive attitude towards our learning, some children in Crew Marsh can be negative to some of the lessons we have through out the day “I hate reading” “Why have we got to do handwriting”. This is something as a crew that we really want to get right.

Howl Hero:

Our Work Hard Hero today is Harlie!

Harlie was chosen by the crew today for working hard, Harlie has completed all of her learning today, making sure she is concentrated in every subject and being a great role model in Crew Marsh. Well done Harlie the crew and I are so proud of you! 😊😊

Star moment

Star moment today was seeing the children interact at the farm, which visited school. It was great to see the children with the animals and to have a lovely visitor in school… a bit normality. We all had a lovely time meeting all of the different animals. Thank you so much Crew early years for letting us come and see also. 🐄🐐🦆🐆
