Crew Godley Weekly Review 07.05.2021

NSPCC Maths Week ➕✖️➖➗

We’ve had lots of fun carrying out different maths challenges this week in Crew Godley. We’ve made our maths learning really fun by using practical activities to futher develop our number skills. We played parachute games, dominoes in Crew which developed our subitising skills and numicon bingo. Reggie was so excited when he won! We’ve had so much fun and topped it our with our number dress up day – Zach looked great with his numbered t-shirt!

Highlight of the week:

Our highlight of the week has to be our progress in phonics. Today the children who work with myself and Miss Tabone have really showed they have been working hard to get smart, by recalling all of their set one sounds and moving onto the next group. The Crew were so proud of them.

HOWL:

This week’s HOWL average: 2.9 We’ve had a very rocky week this week, after our notices and wonders in crew next week I am hoping we can all work on our pledges to get back into the threes next week.

Have a lovely weekend everyone 🙂

Check out all of the exciting things we’ve been exploring in Early Years this week 🐄 🐑

Crew Mcloughlin Weekly Blog 07.05.21

Maths dress up!

In Crew Mc this week we have been trying our absolute best to Work Hard in order to Get Smart… lets see how…

Maths week

We have loved building our confidence with decimals and being so proud to have completed so many reasoning and problem solving in our books, our explanations are improving day by day. We also have been completing extra arithmetic to consolidate learning to make it stick such as division, timetables and place value ✖➗

Expedition- CS3 Art

In our Expedition we have moved onto our next case study Art, which the children are very happy about! As you can see we have been practising our sketching techniques.

‘No wonder they call him Neil ARM-STRONG’ – Daniels response to his mirrored sketch of Neil’s peculiar arm.

Crew

In Crew we also focused on ways we can control our emotions. Using controllers, we gathered strategies on how we can prevent and control ourselves when feeling red. Hopefully children can refer to these and use these controls in school and at home.

Our proud moment🤩

We also had Mrs Fox pop into our lesson today and she was blown away at how hard we were working- she rated us as a 4 for Work Hard. We were all super proud of ourselves 😁😁😁 Keep it up Crew Mc you are amazing!

UKS2 TWIP 4-7.5.21

As promised, here are more photographs of another exciting week in Crew UKS2. Enjoy the weekend! 😆

Crew Shields – 7/5/21

It’s been a busy maths week in Crew Shields as we have continued to explore fractions and develop our arithmetic skills. We are continually trying to get smart by ensuring we are using the correct methods to solve problems. ✅

In crew, the children have had some brain teasers that has required them to really pull on their prior knowledge of number. 😀 It was lovely seeing them work together to solve the number puzzles and how they encouraged each other. 👍

In computing, the children were given the opportunity to practice their timetable skills by playing a range of timetable games. I love how the children supported each other to solve the calculations and how their confidence is building each week. We have some budding mathematicians on our hands. 😊

Crew Gerrard Weekly Review and Maths Week

This week, we have been working really hard on maths. We have loved learning about decimals and the different ways we can represent and read decimals. It hasn’t always been easy, but we are now able to read decimals with thousandths. Our vocabulary is becoming really strong and we are confident explaining.

In Writing, we have been completing a scientific report about the experiment we participated in, during Expedition. This has been something that has really challenged our thinking, which was to be like scientists.

During Expedition, we completed our experiment for the European Space Agency (ESA). They have loved designing their rockets and seeing if their prediction was correct. We thought that the bigger the surface area on a parachute, the slower it would fall. This did not come true and we need to figure out why our prediction was not accurate.

During expedition, we started our 3rd Case Study, which is art. We loved being able to critique the art work in the fantastic book Where Once we Stood. We then even had a go at trying our own version of the images. We have also reflected on the mural that we are creating and have thought about how we can make this better. We have discussed it and then put our ideas into action.

This week has been an odd week, as it has had one day less. We are keen to have an improved one next week. Our HoWL average for the week was 2.8! We really need to ensure that we are working hard all of the time.

Our Learning Legend was Keegan 😁

Our Golden Ticket winner for Handwriting was Emily! ✍

Have a great weekend, Crew Gerrard and remember, next week is a fresh start! 😆

Crew Elmer Weekly Blog 07.05.21

Well what a wonderful week it has been in Crew Elmer this week! We have been very busy learning lots but have also had lots of fun! We have especially enjoyed ‘Number Week’ and ‘NSPCC Number Day’! We have completed lots of different number challenges this week and have really enjoyed exploring maths more!

Star moment of the week: ⭐

This week’s star moment has to be our ‘Number work’. Children have completed lots of ‘hands on maths’ challenges this week, as well as arithmetic questions and open ended problems. The children also really enjoyed their maths challenge today where they had to hunt around the playground and field for different answers and scan a QR code to reveal a hidden letter and then work as mini crews to ‘crack the code’! The children were really engaged and loved this interactive maths moment! I don’t think they realised how much fun they could have with maths! See some snaps below! 📸🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️✏

This week’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Oooh…. we are slowly getting closer to that 3.0! I am very confident that next week if we all pull together and focus on our HoWLs that we can achieved the ME HoWL target of a 3.0! 🤞

Next week’s weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this next week?

All crew members need to continue to pull together to help each other to get those 3’s and 4’s for their HoWLs. Some crew members also need to work hard on being kind to each other as we have had a few fall out this week.

This week’s HoWL Heros:

This week’s HoWL Heroes were Harry, Esme, Kacey-Leigh and Frankie! Well done to all of you! 👏🙌👍😁

Today’s Learning Legend:

Today’s Learning Legend was: Harry! Harry has really impressed me recently with his positive attitude towards trying to achieve his Reading ME Target. Reading isn’t Harry’s favourite subject but this week I have been blown away with how Harry’s words per minute have increased, he is also reading with greater fluency and is able to use direct quotes from the text as evidence to support his answers during our comprehension sessions. I am very confident that if Harry keeps this up he will totally smash his ME target! Amazing work Harry! Well done! 👍😁🙌👏☀

Have a great weekend Crew Elmer and I will see you all on Monday! 🖐

Crew Marsh: 7/5/21

We have had a very busy week this week in Crew Marsh, especially to say it has been a 4 day week! We have enjoyed math day today, outside we took part in an treasure hunt activity. This meant in smaller crews we had to work out answers to written problem sums and then find the corresponding answer somewhere on the playground. On the answer sheet there was QR code which we scanned to get a letter… at the end all of the letters created a word.
