Today’s HoWL average is: 3.2!

Weekly HoWl target: 3.0

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Again, tomorrow Crew Marsh need to make sure that everyone is listening to every instruction the first time.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

This week we are concentrating on working hard, as if you work hard, you get smart!

Our work hard hero today is: Jake!

Jake has tried really hard with his handwriting and spelling in his writing lesson today, this is a great improvement Jake, keep it up!

Crew Mcloughlin Blog 15/09/20

Today’s highlights ✨🌟

We started the morning off with a great discussion about working hard and we focused on how this will look when we explain and present to our phase crews of how Crew Mcloughlin work hard. This Word Hard attitude seamlessly ran throughout the day and we did not stop!

We consolidated our knowledge of estimating numbers on a number line and even made our own challenge questions for the rest of the crew. In the Write Stuff the whole crew also produced amazing writing and even achieved green by using metaphors and rhetorical questions within their paragraph.

In the afternoon we went out into the community to enjoy the lovely sunshine and to follow a route the children had plotted on a map of Carcroft. The Crew loved applying their knowledge of maps and directions.

I am so proud of Crew Mcloughlin today and we have discussed how proud they should feel too! Keep up the hard work Crew!

Our HoWL average for today is 3.4 ! What an amazing day!

Our HoWL Heros voted today🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Wok HardGracie worked hard today, especially with her amazing writing in the Write Stuff.

Macey was voted our Be Kind Hero by Crew Mcloughlin as she always looks out for all our members and makes us smile.

Shaydon achieved his expected standard in all his work today and listened to every Crew member in crew discussion.

Harry was voted for our hero for producing beautiful writing and having a positive attitude to his learning

Crew Fox Blog 15.09.20

This morning, Crew Fox have finished their second paragraph in The Write Stuff sessions, some children were even using alliteration to ‘deepen the moment’.

Here is Darcey’s beautiful writing…

We have continued to look at numbers to 10,000,000 in maths today, but challenged ourselves to order and compare the different amounts. This was quite tricky, however, we showed resilience and didn’t give up!

During reading sessions, we are reading a text called ‘The Giver’, the children are hooked in and are using great inference skills to suss out the characters already!

For our expeditionary learning, this afternoon we headed out into our local community to gather some pictures for our final product… the children enjoyed a peaceful stroll up to Ebec where we saw the beautiful view of our village, Carcroft.

We were that carried away on our walk that we didn’t make it back to school until 15:10, therefore we will discuss our HOWL heroes in the morning and track our HOWLs too!

Crew Wilson Daily Blog : 15/09/2020

We have had another fantastic day full of learning, laughter and most importantly….. listening! We seemed to have cracked our previous days Whole Class Target of listening first time, every time and have made use of every second of learning time today!

Highlights from today:

Carrying with counting forwards in maths – all of Crew Wilson remembered what we had learned in the previous days lesson and could apply it to their work today! Shout-out to Finlay  for being todays’ Maths whizz and giving 100% effort throughout the lesson!

Our first writing lesson following The Write Stuff was a resounding success, today we worked on sentence building and adjectives, tomorrow we will focus on actual writing, so watch this space!

Recapping in Geography – we covered geographical features in our Theme lesson last week, so was blown away when the children could accurately describe the difference between a Human and Physical feature today without any reminders. Those listening skills are really paying off!

We have had so many “I Praises…” from the children in our crew session today, where they thank crew members for specific positive moments in the day. We are really beginning to understand what it means to “Be Kind” to each other, and we are bonding as a crew and looking out for each other which is fantastic to see this early into the school year!

HOWL Heroes.

Who run the world? Girls!

The girls have dominated our HOWL’s today!

Work Hard – Keira-Leigh – Fantastic work across all subjects today, Keira-Leigh has had such a positive attitude towards her work today and it has made such a difference to what she has produced! Well done Keira-Leigh!

Get Smart – Mia – Mia will admit that coming to school in a morning is not her favourite thing in the world to do, but today her she has striven to meet all the learning intentions in every lesson today with a big smile on her face, had her hand up for every question and has helped others with their learning, so great to see you working hard to get smart! Special shout out for all of her fabulous adjectives in our writing lessons! Well done Mia!

Be Kind – Tia – Tia has been on patrol in the classroom and cloakroom today, making sure that everything is back in it’s place and reminding our crew members of where their things should live without any of the adults asking her! Fantastic to see such a young girl taking time out from her playtime to make sure peoples possessions aren’t lost and taking care of school property, well done Tia!

HOWL Average:

3.8

Some very honest self-assessment and personal targets planned for tomorrow!

Well done Crew Wilson, I’m so happy with everything we have achieved today, keep up the fabulous work! Let’s aim for that 4 average across the board now!

Daily Blog – 15.09.20

Good evening everyone,

Star moment of the day:

Our star moment of the day has been our concentration in maths as we tackled counting in 1,000s and the great work that we have completed!

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

We’ve improved on yesterday’s score and this has been helped by our excellent maths session!  Let’s keep pushing through to the end of the week to beat last week’s total score of 2.9.

How can we improve this tomorrow?

To improve on this tomorrow, we will all try our best and not be afraid to ask for help if we need it.  If we can’t do something, we’ll try to remember that we just can’t do it…yet!

Today’s HoWL Heroes:

Work Hard – Joseph!  Well done for concentrating on your own learning and your fantastic positive attitude!

Get Smart – Tyler!  Well done for your listening skills and ensuring that you are achieving your expected standard throughout the day.

Be Kind – Freya!  Well done for the care and manners that you have shown everyone in our crew today, it doesn’t go unnoticed!

What a lovely sunny day we have had! It was the perfect opportunity to spend the afternoon outside exploring the forest school for the first time! The children did fantastic listening, they focused on learning and kept themselves and their crew safe! They are all looking forward to next week’s forest school already! 🌳🌿

We also kept in the shade inside and practised our gross motor skills by dancing to some action songs. We had so much fun!

Our HOWL Hero

Be Kind – Well done to Charlotte who did excellent sharing today to cheer up one of her crew members! This is lovely to see!
