Crew Thiede 17.9.20

Highlight of the day

We have had a busy day in Crew Thiede today! The children have been drawing maps of the route we walked to get to Coffee Corner. They could recall all of the human and physical features that we saw on our walk, and were able to locate them on a map. Well done! 😀

Today’s highlights

This morning we worked hard to consolidate our understanding of reasoning and problem solving when adding 1000s 100s and 10s. We also had time to refresh ourselves of rounding numbers ready for tomorrows lesson so we can get a head start. This really gave the Crew confidence and made them enthusiastic about tomorrows maths lesson. The Write Stuff lessons were jampacked with adjectives, parenthesis and alliteration! The Crew are loving writing and are already filling our inspiration station with fantastic sentences to magpie. In Book talk, we read another chapter of The Giver and got very competitive when having a tables chapter quiz.

In the afternoon we had our Kikks PE lesson which tested the children’s stamina and agility. The Crew definitely burnt lots of energy off so we finished the day by listening to calming music and ensuring we had proofread our writing and our presentation was perfect in our Write Stuff books.

HoWL Heros🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️

Our HoWL average today is 2.8

I praise how much our Crew feels like a school family already because of how lovely you all are!

I wonder if every Crew member can achieve our expected expectations and some go above and beyond and achieve 4s by going out of their way to Work Hard and in turn Work Smart.

I challenge us to have our expected standard tomorrow! We can do this and be the best Crew!

17.09.20 – Today’s Blog

Good evening,

Star moment of the day:

Our work on maps this afternoon in our theme lesson has to be our star moment, I think.  Not just with the detail of our maps but also the excitement that came when discussing our community!

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

A strong score today but we all know we can do better, especially if we want to beat last week’s total.  I praise everyone in our crew for their honesty and support of others though in correcting anyone’s reflections that are too low.

How can we improve this tomorrow?

We need to have a good day across the crew tomorrow in order to improve on this and we’ll have to Work Hard to achieve it; stay positive, try our best and ask for help if we need it!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Be Kind – Ethan!  Ethan has really worked hard to show his kindness today and has been a good friend for all the crew in looking out for them and helping to ensure we all stay safe.  Keep this going, Ethan, well done!

Daily Blog 17/09/20

We have had another exciting day in Foundation learning new skills whilst also having fun! We have been baking some tasty buns 😋🧁 We learnt about the ingredients we needed, measured them out, mixed them together and of course the best part, we got to taste them! The children worked really hard following instructions and listening carefully, which isn’t always easy to do when we are so excited about the task we are doing!

I am also so proud of how the children have taken pride in their classroom today and worked as crew to help tidy up! It is really important we help each other and look after not only our own belongings, but our class belongings and our learning environment. Keep up the great work 👍🏻

Our HOWL Hero

Being Kind – Riley-Jay

Riley-Jay always uses impeccable manners, especially at snack and lunch time. Riley-Jay is new to nursery and already an excellent role model to his peers, well done!

Crew Wilson Daily Blog : 17/09/2020

Today I want to give a massive shout out to the whole Crew – they have worked so hard to show all of their teachers what “Working Hard” looks like in different areas of our classroom and school. They know what is expected of them and have displayed it in many different ways – well done Crew Wilson, I am very proud!

HOWL Heroes.

Work Hard – Tommy T has had his best day at school so far! He has listened carefully to instructions and worked so hard in every single lesson today resulting in some beautiful work being created, well done Tommy!!

Be Kind – Finlay has been such a great collaborator today, working hard in his group to go above and beyond what we expect. In our writing lesson, Finn worked fantastically to sound out some very tricky words, and then helped others when they were stuck too, keep up the good work Finlay!

HOWL Average:

4.0

Some more very honest reflection today, but we agreed as a Crew that we had all met our criteria for awarding 4’s as we had worked so well both independently and collaboratively across every lesson, we have really turned a corner in terms of our attitude towards learning, well done Crew!

Crew Gerrard blog (17/09/2020)

Hi everyone!

What a day we have had in Crew Gerrard – it’s been our best yet! This morning we continued to work on adding 1000, 100, 10 and 1 in our maths, which we continue to grow in confidence with. We also continued to work on building up our team work, during PE.

After PE, we then looked into our class book The Giver. The children are beginning to really understand more about this community and the main character Jonas.

This afternoon was really amazing to teach, as the children worked really hard and began to explore how to make video games on scratch. The team work and enjoyment the children had was great to see, with many not wanting to log off.

Our HoWL heroes today were:

  • Kian for working hard and trying to really improve and understand the maths, amongst other lessons today. Well done!
  • Lucas for giving his all today in every subject, you should be really proud of yourself!
  • Everyone for keeping really calm today. I was really impressed with how you all handled yourselves today.

HoWL average for today – 3.4

I am really proud of your effort today Crew Gerrard, keep it up!
