Daily blog 18.9.2020

Hi everyone!

What a great last day of the week we’ve had!
We’ve upped our HOWL average to 3.1 which is great! Well done Crew Welburn!👏👏

Our HOWL heroes for today are:

Work Hard: H

Get smart: Evie

Be Kind: Lylah

Here’s some highlights from our week…

In writing, we have been looking at the different lenses from The Write Stuff. We have focused on what we could see on our walk, and what actions we did on our walk. The children have also been practicing their phonics skills independently by sounding out and making words using the magnetic letters.

In computing, we were programming the beebots to follow our algorithms. We had to debug them when they went wrong, but we were very excited when they went right!

Positives for this week:

-We have worked hard to make sure we are listening on the carpet.

-We have worked hard in provision to practice our independent skills.

-We have had lots of fun outside in provision.

-We have all written lots of sentences in pairs, by ourselves and in groups! Well done Crew Welburn! We are getting back into the swing of things 😁😁

Our Learning Legend for this week was Darcie – Well done Darcie, you have worked hard, got smart and been kind!

Crew Kent Blog 18.9.20

Well done Crew Kent another brilliant day!! First thing this morning the children enjoyed a socially distanced Learning Legends assembly in classrooms. Children then spent all morning working hard on their Science. They had to match up cards and then talk about the development of a baby within the mothers womb. After a fantastic game of Myth and Fact the children then created a timeline to show the development of a baby including information and pictures. Lunchtime came very quickly again with all the children being very focused throughout the morning learning how to greet each other in Spanish. After lunch children enjoyed a quick singing lesson before the end of the day.

Howl heroes for today – Work Hard = Deacon, Get Smart = Kai and Being Kind = Maxi

Learning Legend = McKenzie Groom

Have a fantastic weekend!! 😊

Parent Feedback- Mid September

Parent Feedback Form- Mid September

Feedback so far…

I am keen to find out how your child has settled back into school. We are using something in school to support with critique and feedback and would like to trial this with parents. We are using this language with the staff and children.

I praise… something you like/think is working well this year so far

I wonder…. Something you would like to propose to us in order to improve school life and is usually posed as a question

Example: I wonder if school breakfast club could start up again soon?

The staff within school have been working exceptionally hard in order to make our school the best it can be and I would love to be able to share some positive feedback with them as well as ways we can improve further.

Working hard = Getting Smart

Morning everyone,

This week, I set every crew at CPS a challenge. I wanted each crew to really think about what ‘Working Hard’ at Carcroft Primary looks like. It’s one of those areas that people have different perceptions of what it looks like and I really want to be able to clarify this so that we all have the same understanding.

I asked the children to share their understanding during their phase assembly next week, in the hope that as a whole school, we can create a little video showing everyone what ‘working hard’ looks like for us at CPS and this can be shared with both Parents, Governors and the community so that we all understand.

In order to help the staff and children to work hard, leaders have put together a document which breaks down ‘working hard’ for each stage of the lesson.

Last year, I felt that sometimes, both Teachers and Pupils were not always doing what I would expect them to do at each stage of the lesson and this sometimes meant that the teaching and learning was not always as great as it could have been.

We have changed the structure of our Maths and Writing lessons (The Write Stuff) to fit in with this criteria and I am hoping that the children can see that by following these new structures, everyone can achieve and everyone can be the best they can be!

You can view our expectations for working hard by clinking on this link below.

Supporting Children to work hard and get smart

For 99% of our pupils, I have been blown away by their attitude towards learning since returning, we have a few pupils who still need to keep thinking about our expectations so that they don’t let their crew down.

Keep up the great work CPS!

Such an amazing day in our CREW today.

Highlights of the day:

All the children worked hard to partition numbers up to 100 using base 10 equipment. In English, the children have blown me away with their writing by including adjectives in their sentences to describe the delicious food at Coffee Corner.

HOWLS

Our Crew average for the day was: 2.4. A little lower than yesterday but still a fantastic score. Well done everyone.

HOWL Heroes:

Work Hard

Kelsey – for having a positive attitude to her learning.

Get Smart

Lacey-Jo – for listening carefully in every lesson.

Be Kind

Maria – for always using her manners.

Daily Post 17.09.20

Happy Thursday Everyone! 😁

Today has yet again been a great day in Crew Elmer! 👍

Star moment of the day:

Today I was blown away by the work that children have been doing in our ‘expedition’ lesson. We have been looking at ordnance survey maps including symbols, keys and routes. The children were great at guessing the different symbols and then used this knowledge to create their own keys for Carcroft. The children also had a go at drawing their own OS maps using the knowledge that they gained from our ‘mini expedition’ around Carcroft last Friday.

I was also pleased to hear this morning in Crew that Harry had a fantastic birthday and enjoyed eating lots of cheesecake! Not jealous at all! 🤣

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Today our Crew average is lower than previous days. However, I believe that this is due to us agreeing on some new high expectations within our crew, as well as the children being incredibly honestly about their HoWLs. Excellent self reflecting Crew Elmer! 👏

This week’s HoWL target is: 2.9

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that we are continuing to be kind to each other especially during partner work, and that we continue to work incredibly hard in EVERY lesson.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Crew Elmer nominated Ray for HoWL Hero for ‘being smart’ all day. Ray is always listening in class which really help him to get smart. In several lessons today Ray has also achieved ‘green standard’ and produced some beautiful work that he should be very proud of! Well done Ray! 👏
